UCC28780: ACDC fly-back solution for LED display

Part Number: UCC28780
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28600

Hi Team,

in led display application, do we have fly-back ACDC solution?(Size optimized solution)

the input need to tolerance 1000 surge test. Input is 220V narrow voltage.

   12V output, peak 4.5A, normal 4A.

in led display application, the current is lower than 2A.

   any mature solution we have?

thanks a lot.(In addition, about this case, do we need much bandwidth to do support? or this is mature solution, we can handle it by many documents we have.)

  • Hi Feng,

UCC28780 can support active clamp flyback (ACF)which is a high efficiency and high power density solution compared with conventional flyback. if your target is size optimized solution. ACF can be a good candidate. at the same time , high performance brings a higher total cost on ACF. it need additional high side driver and FET . we have many success projects on ACF now , special on adapter and charger application.  this solution is mature but still need put more resource and effort on it compare with convectional flyback solution.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Jaden,

        thanks for your feedback.

understand the UCC28780 is a great product.

any easier or traditional solution you proposal? due to my customer is the first time to do this AC/DC design, hope we can have enough material like reference design for them to do hardware design.

thanks a lot for your supports.

  • Hi Feng,

Understand, If so, UCC28600 is proposed which is a conventional QR flyback controller , that customer can find lots of design material on websites , TI also has some reference design on TI.com.

    Thanks.
