TPS7A8101: Minimum NR and bypass capacitor

Part Number: TPS7A8101

We are currently using the linear voltage regulator TPS7A8101 to clean-up analog power supplies.  The noise reduction capacitor and the bypass capacitor are 470 nF like recommended in the datasheet.  The start-up time is about 80 ms because the noise reduction capacitor is 470 nF.

I would like to use the TPS7A8101 to supply some digital components.  I don’t need a low noise supply for those components but I would like to have a more faster start-up time (about 1 ms).

Is the TPS7A8101 work properly with no noise reduction capacitor and no bypass capacitor?  If not, what are the minimum value?

  • Hi Nicholas,

You can still use the TPS7A8101 without the NR capacitor and bypass capacitor.  These options are available to minimize the noise of the LDO, but they are not required if noise is not an issue.

    Thanks,
