LM5155EVM-SEPIC in constant current mode

Part Number: LM5155EVM-SEPIC

Hi,

Is it possible to run LM5155QDSSRQ1 (no hiccup) in constant output current mode? Will the output current will be limited and stable with no resets when the load is high?

I would like to select different output current limits by using different current sense resistors on the LM5155EVM-SEPIC.

  • Hello,

The peak current is set with the desired value of the sense resistor. When this peak inductor current is detected by the IC then the device will run in current limit (which means that the current will remain constant and the Vout will drop) .

    Kind regards,

    EM

  • Hi,

I got the EVM today. I've changed the current sense resistor to 0.1ohm so the limit will act sooner. When the current reaches the limit, around 450mA according to the electronic load, the voltage starts to fall but the current stays the same. If I increase the load current more, the output current will increase to the same level of the electronic load and the output voltage will fall more.

Any suggestions how can I current limit the output?

  • Hello Arkady,

As far as I understand you description, you are limiting the current. When the output current increases and reaches the current limit, the current is limited and the voltage will drop.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
