TPS3422: tTIMER can be set to 0?

Part Number: TPS3422
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVC1G123

Hi Team,

For our application, we want to use TPS3422 with 0second delay. Can we connect TS to VCC to achieve this?

There is a note in datasheet, that this option is only for factory setting. What does it mean?

Can we get this part from TI store (factory) with 0 second delay? Kindly let us know your comments if this is feasible.

Best Regards,

Spandana Peramala.

  • Hi Spandana,

Yes, you can connect TS to VCC.  See below:

The language is a bit confusing, but it is not intended to be a deterrent for using the '0s' option. You can connect TS to VCC for a 0s delay on elegible devices (TPS3241Ey, TPS3422Ey).

At this time, the parts are out of stock at due to IC shortage.

  • Hi Ben,

Our application is to generate a fixed pulse on output without any delay from input(400mS pulse works fine) when the input goes low. And irrespective of input signal status, the output should remain HIGH after the pulse.

As the datasheet had mentioned only typical detection delay as 150uS, Could you please let us know the max. detection delay?

Does TPS3422 works well with our application?  Or would there be any issues?

For our application, please check and let us know which is better option? One shot pulse generator SN74LVC1G123  or TPS3422?

    Best Regards,

    Spandana Peramala.

  • Hi Spandana,

Let me check to see if I can get some data for you on the max detection delay.  Just to let you know, I may not be able to find the data.

I believe the TPS3422 will work well with your application and I dont see any issues.

Regarding the SN74LVC1G123, I do not have any knowledge with this part.  You might want to start another thread in that product line so their application engineers can give you more insights to that device.  As for the TPS3822, the device is a small package, has a voltage rating of 6.5V max, a 400ms reset delay and a max temp range of -40C to +125C.

  • Hi Spandana,

Unfortunately, we do not have data on the max detection delay as I have asked the product engineer and poked around the TPS3422 test folder for information.

  • Ben,

Could you please confirm if 150uS typical detection delay applicable for TPS3422?

As note2, For devices with a 0-second delay when TS=VCC, reset asserts in tDD time when both PB inputs go LOW in this configuration.  As TPS3422 has single PB input, the delay of 150uS can be considered as worse case?

    Best Regards,

    Spandana Peramala.

  • Hi Spandana,

I can only go what is off the datasheet.  The TPS3422 has a typical detection delay of 150us at typical conditions.

The 150us detection delay is a typical value not worst case.  Worst case would also include over wafer process, voltage, and temperature.
