ULN2004A: Is noise immunity of ULN2004A same as ULN2003A?

Part Number: ULN2004A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ULN2003A,

Hi Team

My customer has been using ULN2003A and they are also considering use ULN2004A now due to other manufacturer's EOL.

My customer asked if the noise immunity of ULN2004A is same as ULN2003A? Only a yes or no answer will be appreciate.

Since ULN2004A and ULN2003A share the same datasheet, I think noise immunity of ULN2004A is same as ULN2003A. Just want to make sure.

Thanks.

Regards,

Jo

  • Hi Jo,

ULN2003A and ULN2004A are rated to the same ESD specifications. It is likely that the system will not be affected when switching from ULN2003A to ULN2004A due to noise.

    Thanks,

    Shreyas

  • Hi Shreyas,

what about the immunity against noise applied to the power line when ULN2003A/2004A is working?

Will it also be the same between both?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Jo

  • Hi Jo,

We do not spec a "noise immunity" characteristic on the datasheet for these parts. Since these devices are similar and based on the same die, I would say that the noise characteristic is similar. This is not guaranteed and is for design reference only. I recommend the customer to test the ULN2004A in their system.

    Thanks,

    Shreyas

  • Hi Shreyas,

Thanks for the reply. I got another question from customer, it is about thermal resistance.

First, is ULN2004A's thermal resistance measured based on JESD51-2A(70um thickness pattern) ?

Customer uses 36um or 18um thickness pattern so customer is thinking the θJA will be worse than which shown in datasheet.

So customer wants to know do TI have θJA measurement data(e.g., xx% worse or no change ) for 36um or 18um thickness pattern.

And if not, can TI help customer measure thermal resistance for 36um or 18um thickness pattern?

Could you help confirm with it? Thanks.

    Regards,

    Jo

  • Hi Jo,

All R_t,j,a values are based on JEDEC High K(2s2p) standard for this device.

We do not have any data the shows different thickness or standards.

At this time, we maintain the High K standard and so do not have any plans on collecting more data.

    Thanks,

    Shreyas
