BQ24610: ACN and System voltage

Part Number: BQ24610

Hi E2E,

Our customer will be using a 12Vdc input to ACDRV, what is the expected voltage drop at ACN and the System, and how much current it can carry through?

Regards,
Carlo

  • Dear Carlo,

The input drop from a 12 V adapter to ACN will depend on your charge current and input current limit as well as the sense resistor. We support up to 10 A charge current, but you need to size your FETs according to your application.

    Thanks,

  • Hello Mike,

    Thank you for your response.

What will be the output voltage if the customer will take a battery of 13V and the input supply is power off? What will be the cutoff voltage?

    Regards,
    Carlo

  • Dear Carlo,

The output voltage will be the battery voltage less series resistance and the body diode drop. Because of the body diode from SRN to the SYSTEM load, there is no cutoff voltage that the system will stop drawing current at. You need to make sure the system stops drawing current before the battery gets too low and/or have a battery protector to turn off the battery discharge path.

    Thanks,

    Mike Emanuel
