TPS23734: To know the possibility/concern of insert the bead before the bride diode

Part Number: TPS23734

Hi Expert,

The customer is evaluating the TPS23734 into the design.

And troubling in 300Mhz EMI challenging.

Now finding to insert the bead before the bride diode trace will solve the EMI issue.

Pls see the attachment for detail.

May we know any concern of insert the bead before the bride diode?

  • Hi Eric,

    Thank you for your question.

I have not seen a customer do this before, however, I don't see any issues with this approach.

What I see more commonly is for customers to place the ferrite beads in series with the CM choke after the diode bridge.

It looks like the ferrite beads are currently in parallel in the screenshot shared, but that they placed them in series before the diode bridge to pass EMI.

I think it should be similar performance if the beads are placed in series after or before diode bridge, both approaches should work.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions about this. Thanks!
