TPS54290: TPS54290PWP - How to set Vout2 = 5V/2.5A

Part Number: TPS54290
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54291

Dear Sir/Mam,

Good Day.

I would like to know that  for Buck IC TPS54290PWP.

Datasheet mention two output

1) 3.3V/1.5A

2) 1.2V/2.5A

I would like to change second output Vout = 1.2V/2.5A to 4.5 or 5VDC/2.5A.

Please suggest what modification I should need to in application schematic.

Refer attachement which I'm referring from datasheet.

How to set Vout=4.5/5VDC 2.5A

Waiting for your reply,

  • Hi Young Zhao and Tahar Allag

    Good Day.

I'm waiting for your reply for my above mentioned query.

Please reply me as early as possible.

    Waiting for your quick response.

    Many Thanks,

  • Hi Minesh,

I recommend use TPS54291 to instead of TPS54290. Because TPS54291 is 600kHz switching frequency, so you can use smaller output inductor.

From application schematic Figure 17,  You need change following parts.

    1. Change output inductor L2. Refer to datasheet 9.2.1.2.2 to calculate your inductor value. It should be around 6.8uH for 600kHz switching frequency.

    2. Change feedback resistors(R10/R12) based on datasheet 9.2.1.2.5

    3. Change loop compensation (R7/C9/C8) based on section  from 9.2.1.2.6 to 9.2.1.2.8

    4. You also need to double check the input(C10)/output capacitors (C14)and power dissipation since 5V/2.5A has higher power.

    5. You may need to fine tune the snubber (C13/R11) during your evaluation stage.

    Thanks,

    Nancy
