TPS7A66-Q1: Question about Vthres

Part Number: TPS7A66-Q1

Hi team,

Does PG mean high and low voltage in the datasheet? In the datasheet, Vthres is 2%. What does it mean by 2%?

Besides, what’s the min&max value of Vthres?

Thanks & best regards,

Tianze

  • Hi Tianze,

PG is normally used as a signal to tell the next stage that the output of the LDO is ready.

The 2% is the hysteresis, which means, once Vout exceeds Vthpor, it has to drop by 2% from the Vthpor for the PG output to change. The purpose of hysteresis is to prevent PG from toggling high and low due to small voltage changes on the output pin.

    Does it make sense?

  • Hi Jason,

    Got it. Thanks!

Besides, could you please provide the min&max value of Vthres?

    Thanks & best regards,

    Tianze

  • Only the positive threshold (rising) is programmed, and the min and max values are already in the datasheet.

The Hyst only has a typical number and it could vary. In a real application, only the positive threshold is critical as this is the signal for the output being ready. The Hyst is there to prevent noise toggling PG on and off.
