SM72442: Setting the AIIn and AIOut offsets

Part Number: SM72442

dear TI,

I have a current sensor that has a 0.6V reading at 0 current feeding to the SM72442 AIIn and AIOut pins.

I am trying to set the offset by modifying bits of Reg4 but it is not documented whether this offset is added, subtracted or even if it is signed or unsigned.

  • Hi,

The SM72442 is an old device and the documentation is not complete owing to the then National Semi's Solarmagic Strategy.  I would recommend you not to use the I2C functions.  The SM72442 can implement the MPPT operation without the I2C intervention, and the original fully released SM3320 products did not use I2C.  If you still want to control via I2C, you may change to C2000 because the resources to support it are far more rich than SM72442.

    Thanks,
