TPS6521835: Not able to set the FSEAL bit as 1b without coin cell

I wrote [0xB1, 0xFE, and 0xA3] to the password register of TPS6521835 using the USB2ANY debugger tool. Coin cell was not inserted and after the write, status register showing FSEAL bit as 0b only. This issue not happening when i tried with coin cell. And another observation i found is after making FSEAL bit as 1b and then removed the coin cell and external power. After a few seconds when i again powered on the board without coin cell, FSEAL showing as 1b even without doing any register write operation.

can anyone help on this.

Hi,

Are you referring to the USB2ANY Explorer? Did you do a read back on i2C after these writes to confirm that you were talking to the PMIC successfully? As an alternative to this method, it is also possible to use socketed Boosterpack with IPGUI here. You can also find additional information on accessing the PMIC via linux commands on this thread: https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/944365/tps65218-how-to-set-fseal-bit-over-i2c. There a few different ways to access this PMIC via I2C, but it would be important to ensure these write commands are happening successfully first.
