LM25011: Difference between LM25011 and LM25011A

Hi,

My customer is using LM25011 ,but due to shortage,they have to move to LM25011A,

they wonder if could change to LM25011A without any chance on schematic. I noticed the datasheet mention as below, but don't see more detail about these description.

please help to comments is there any difference between LM25011 and LM25011A?

from datasheet:

LM25011A Allows Low-Dropout Operation at High Switching Frequency.

The LM25011A has a shorter minimum off-time than the LM25011, which allows for higher frequency operation at low input voltages.

Hi Yue,

Generally speaking LM25011A can replace LM25011 without any circuit changing, but if Vin may drop and close to Vout for second level duration, then need to check IC thermal at Lowest Vin and max load current as A version has higher Fsw.

Andy,

Input 35V, output 32.5V, 500mA, How about this input and output?

Also, according to datasheet, seem A version may need a external ripple voltage. based on this input,output, do you think if this is necessary.

From datasheet:

The LM25011A, which is designed for higher frequency operation, requires additional ripple voltage which must be generated externally and provided to the FB pin

Hi Yue,

Input 35V, output 32.5V, 500mA should be OK if Fsw below 1MHz.

LM25011A require more ripple for higher freq only, should not require additional ripple if works at same freq as LM25011.
