I would like to use TPS546D24A, but the manufacturer is out of stock. Which component should I use?

    Global supplies of silicon are tight across the entire industry right now.  If you are interested in the TPS546D24A, I would recommend using that device as it is TI's latest integrated FET synchronous BUCK converter with PMBus.

    The closest equivalent device would be the prior generation TPS546C20A or TPS546C23

    Thank you for presenting an alternative.

    Sorry, but I want to use an input voltage of 3.3V, so I can't use that alternative.
    (That component minimum input voltage is 4.5V)

    For a 3.3V input, the TPS546D24A is definitely the best option, through you'll need to provide a >4V bias to the AVIN/VDD5 pin to enable switching.  If you don't have a bias supply available, we have an application circuit that uses the SYNC output of the TPS546D24A to drive a discrete voltage-double charge pump to generate the necessary bias voltage to enable switching.

    Alternatives would be a discrete FET design using the TPS40400, or if digital telemetry is not required, the TPS549D22 can operate from a 3.3V power rail with a 4.5V bias supply.  Unfortunately the TPS549D22 does not provide a SYNC signal, so that bias current will need to be generated separately, or with its own switching source.

    Are there specific PMBus features of the TPS546D24A that you are looking for?

    My collogues and I are here to help.  All of the functions you list are available on the TPS549D22, so you can look at that as an alternative.

    The TPS549D22 can run it's power stage separate from its VDD pin, like the TPS546D24A in order to run power conversion from 3.3V.  However, unlike the TPS546D24A, the TPS549D22 does not have a SYNC function and requires 4.5V on its VDD pin to exit Under Voltage Lock-Out (UVLO) so you will need to generate a 3.3V to 5V bias supply at 30-50mA depending on switching frequency to power VDD, but it would provide you with another option.
