TPS51200A-Q1: temperature issue

Part Number: TPS51200A-Q1

Hi

Attached is the thermal imaging video of two different TPS51200A-Q1 on a sample

There is a temperature issue on TPS51200A-Q1, and the temperature will rise to 42 degrees after power on.

A new TPS51200A-Q1 has been replaced, and the temperature has not changed significantly after power on.

TPS51200A-Q1 is in the same batch, could you please help to check the reason?

Thanks!

  • Hi Neal,

There are several reasons of higher temperature:

    1. Higher current through the part.

    2. Output oscillation.

    3. Internal damage

For #1, is there anyway to measure the output current to check if there is any difference between the good and bad unit?

For #2, can you measure the input/output voltage waveform to see if there is anything abnormal?

For #3, can you measure the impedance of each pin to see if they are normal?

    Regards,

    Weidong
