BQ2980: Why on increase of temperature some time bq2980 stop charging of battery pack ? how mobile handle this type of issue using bq2980 and bq27z561?

I am seeing charger connected to it. But due to temperature increase detected, someway it stop the charging battery pack and after some time as temperature decreases it start charging. i am embedded developer so in circuit which part it do it i don't know. in circuit we used bq27z561 and bq2980.

so, i want know which phenomena doing this ? how this issue get solved [ for example in mobile charger connected to it at that time this type of issue not get generated, It continuously show charging ] ?

Hi Mangal,

The BQ2980 has overtemperature protection included depending on which version of the device you are using. Charging a battery at a high temperature can be unsafe. You can refer to Section 5 of the datasheet to see the cutoff temperature for your part number.

i am using BQ27Z561-R1 and BQ2980. i have seen data sheet's section 5 but it does not show cutoff temperature for my part number.

i have got cutoff temperature in datasheet its 85 degree. but when i start charging at that time when temperature rise above 50 degree it stop charging. then after some time it start again charge. during that time i got charger status not connected though charger connected to it. in mobile this type of issue how get solved ? because it can confuse user that charger is not working proper. so in this case how to do continuous charging.

Hi Mangal,

How are you measuring the temperature? It is important to find out why the CHG FET is being disabled - whether it is due to temperature of the cell or some other cause. You would not want to continue charging if conditions are unsafe.
