TPSM84A21: Voltage regulator IC for Xilinx Zynq Ultra+ MPSoC XCZU7CG-1FFVC1156E

Part Number: TPSM84A21
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54824

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to use TPSM84A21 for Xilinx Zynq Ultra+ MPSoC XCZU7CG-1FFVC1156E. I have shared the link to the recommended voltage regulator IC for FPGA in the link below.

https://www.ti.com/design-resources/design-tools-simulation/processor-fpga-power/xilinx.html

He has further inquiries as follows:

1. I have looked through the offered solutions and I do not understand why the TPSM84A21/22 are not suggested. Is there a reason I am missing? Are they intended for other applications?
2. What is the main difference in application  between the three regulator families? apart from the inductor/caps being included?
3. Do you know if the included internal inductor in the LMZ and TPSM  can be supplemented by an external series inductor? Have you seen any cases where this was needed? Due to the lack of components in the market I need to choose regulators before any simulation can be done.
4. The output inductance in the TPS54824 is 1uH, while the internal inductance in the TPSM84A21 is 250nH (one for the PU, one for the PD). Could you explain the reason behind this difference?
Thank you for your support!
Regards,
Danilo
