LM5002: Questionn about te distance between RT resister and LM5002

Part Number: LM5002

Hi Sir

Is there any concern that if I place the RT resistor far away from the chip?

As you can see from below picture

The resistor is vey close to the white glue which is used to  fixed the EC-CAP.

Can I just replacement  the resistor as below?

Thank you very much

  • Hi,

there is no general distance which could be given here.

There is of course the recommendation: as close as possible.

Finally only a test on the end application can give you a sure answer but keep in mind the larger the distance and the bigger the current loop build by the routing to the resistor the bigger the potential disturbance which can be injected (basically the current loop builds an antenna).

So distance, switching frequency, load current, Vout/Vin ratio, board layout, ..... all plays in influence on that.

    Best regards,

     Stefan
