BQ25790: About Boost output using PMID

Part Number: BQ25790
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25618

Hi,

Could you tell me about Boost output using PMID.
Customers want to use the PMID of BQ25790 like BQ25618/9.

Is there a way to shut off VBUS during Boost output?
I want to avoid applying voltage to the VBUS pin during boost output operation using PMID.
Can BQ25790 realize the following functions of BQ25618/9?

Best regards
Yusuke

  • Hi Yusuke,

The BQ25790 does not allow the internal sense FET from VBUS to PMID to be turned off.  However, using the external back to back FETs driven by ACDRVx, the charger can, for example, take input power from VACx and ACDRVx and then the host set Disable both ACDRV (REG0x12 bit1) =1 and finally enable OTG.  This puts OTG at PMID and VBUS.  The charger regulates the VBUS pin not PMID.

    Regards,

    Jeff
