BQ76942: Identify of BQ76942 01, 02, 03

Part Number: BQ76942

Hi Matt,

Due to shortage of BQ76942, we have bought many other types, such as BQ7694201,BQ7694202,BQ7694203,BQ7694204.

How to identify the chip type with the FW view?

Should I try to read out the information via I2C , if fails, try to read out via SPI?

  • Hi Sean,

This is a little messy. You can identify the device by the package marking. You will need to reprogram the other devices with OTP to the desired settings.

Only the BQ76942 uses I2C. The other devices use SPI or I2C+CRC. So you will need to initially communicate with them using SPI or I2C+CRC. You will need to program the desired REG1 setting and the Comm Type. Then you need to send the OTP_WRITE() command (the BAT voltage must be between 10-12V during the OTP writing). Then after a power cycle, the device will behave like the BQ76942.

    Best regards,

    Matt
