LM1117: 3.3V applied on Vout when no Vin

Part Number: LM1117

Hi team,

I received a question about LM1117 from my customer.

The customer is considering to use the LM1117 3.3V option. Their question is " Is it ok to apply external 3.3V to Vout when Vin is 0V?".  I think that the LM1117 get damage due to reverse current from Vout to Vin through the body diode. Is my understanding correct? If you have a countermeasure, could you let me know?

Regards,

Yamaguchi
