BQ25790: BQ25790 possible to charge 3S battery with >3A ?

Part Number: BQ25790

I would like to use BQ25790 solution for charging a 3 cell lithium battery (end of charge voltage ~12.45V). The device will be controlled by external MCU via I²C connection.

Is it possible to set higher charge currents than default 1A for this configuration (we plan to use USB PD power supply up to 45W).

  • Hi Dirk,

Yes, you can change the charge current up to 5A assuming you have enough input power to support that much power.  The charger input current max is limited to 3.3A unless you disable input current limit.
