TPS53319: Any recommendations for switching regulator with Vin=16V, Vout=0.70V, Iout=5.0A, with Power Efficiency >85%?

Hi all,

We tried to simulate for the regulators below but could not get beyond power efficiency of >85%. Even with the power efficiency of 85%, we will need to use a pretty big inductor of 10x10mm at least due to the low switching frequency. My questions -
1. Is this the best that we could achieve?
2. Are there any other regulators which could return a better frequency and lower board space?
Just hope to have some feedback on a neater solutions. Thanks.

The parameter search has all the released devices.

Considering using Webench to estimate the size and efficiency for your exact specifications.

Here is a link to the webench I sim'ed for TPS53319 https://webench.ti.com/power-designer/switching-regulator/customize/356

I can get efficiency of 87% by lowering the switching frequency on TPS53319.

Look for the device rated near your output current. Oversized power stages can be less efficient when operating higher switching frequency.

The TPS54J061 may be better choice, released in the past year, 2x3mm size and power stage optimized for 6A. Or TPS543620
