We have inherited a design from another design firm.
We have recalled units with broken chargers. Closer inspection reveals that the BQ24616is failing. Sometimes it has a hole through the IC.
Most notably, the PH and sometimes the LODRV or HIDRV are shorted to GND pin.
We can share more of the schematics if requested.
It is set for charging 6S to 25.2V at 1A max.
This has happened during battery connection but in some units it doesn't happen at all.
There seems to be no measurable transients on the system.
Are there any obvious reason why this circuit would fail?
