UCC28063: operate as a single phase PFC

Hi team,

My customer wants to use UCC28063 as a single phase PFC controller. Is my setting below correct?

In this case, the functions of UCC28063 such as soft-start, protection circuit can be unstable or not?

Hi Kazuto,

since the controller compare the comp pin voltage with PHB, once comp pin is higher than PHB, then phase B will start to work.

So in order to use the controller to be a single phase, please short PHB to VREF and disconnect GDB to Phase B.

the soft start and protection can be stable.

Hi David,

PHB < VPHBF is necessary to disable Phase B according to "8.4 Device Functional Modes". Could you check which way is correct?

Additionally, the block diagram shows PHB > 0.8V OR Phase Fail to enter 1-PHASE mode. If it's just a mistake of datasheet?

Hi Kazuto,

I am really sorry about my mistake. I confused with UCC28063 and UCC28064.

for UCC28063, when PHB is less than 0.8V, you can disable phb. So by pulling PHB to ground as you mentioned is correct.
