UCC28710: Flyback simulation in TINA not converging

Part Number: UCC28710
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00173

I have a simple flyback converter built based on the TI application note 400- to 690-V AC Input 50-W Flyback Isolated Power Supply for Motor Drives (Rev. B) (ti.com). However, the simulation does not converge. This is the first time that I use TINA, could someone possibly help me with this issue? Many thanks!

  • Hi Tianyi,

Thanks for your interesting in TI's part.

When you do the simulation in TINA, Could you please follow the schematic which shows in the TIDA-00173, I believe we should firstly make sure the schematic is correct , for example , The VDD pin of UCC28710 should connect a capacitance rather than a DC voltage , since the voltage on the capacitance should slowly ramp up to VDD_ON voltage , then the controller can start up , and make sure the brown_in voltage setting on VS pin divider resistor is correct also.  my recommendation is you follow the reference design , after you can get a normal waveform , you can adjust the parameters to you wanted.

Here attached schematic link for your reference.
