Hi Lennart,
The BQ79600 does not forward the SPI/UART pings to the stack devices. Instead this functionality provided on-demand by writing the correct bit in the CONTROL1 register.
Section 7.3.2.3.1 of the BQ79600 datasheet has a table (Table 9) that shows all the necessary steps. From the attached it looks to me that adding the write to CONTROL1[SEND_WAKE] = 1 will resolve the issue.
