TPS53316: VREG3 regulation tolerance under 3.135Vin

Part Number: TPS53316

Hi Team,

My customer would like to know the VREG3 output voltage range would be if VIN is under the lowest 3.135Vin( 3.3V-5%)? I only can find the VREG3 range under Vin=5V from datasheet.

Bes regards,

Albert Lee.

  • Hello Albert,

VREG3 is the output of the internal LDO, stepping down VIN. As VIN minimum is specified as 2.9V input. I am not sure customer requires this information to make sure its system is working properly. VREG3 will be following VIN minus a DC drop.

If this really is an element of concern and VIN in customer's application is 3.3V regulated, you can also suggest them to link VIN to VREG3.

VREG3 and VIN are output and input of an on-chip LDO. When they are shorted together, LDO will be bypassed and VREG3 will be powered by VIN directly. The LDO doesn’t have strong pull down current either when VREG is tied to VIN so this configuration should be fine.

Let me know if you have more questions.

    Thanks a lot!

    Regards,

  • Hi Dorian,

We know VREG3 will be following VIN minus a DC drop. And that's the question from customer that they would like to know do we have the DC drop curve&spec vs difference VIN?

    Regards,

    Albert.

  • Hello Albert,

This is not a parameter that was verified/specified during validation.

Customer can verify behavior on TPS53316EVM at their specific application conditions.

Let me know if I can help further.

    Thanks a lot!

    Regards,

    Dorian
