TLV62569: TLV62569 OCP function

Part Number: TLV62569

Dear Team

1. The customer have some questions of OCP, could you help to recommend?

From datasheet 7.3.4

Once the high-side switch current limit is reached, the high-side switch is turned off and low-side switch is turned on to ramp down the inductor current with an adaptive off-time.

1. Is the current limit detect every cycle?

2. If current limit is reached, will the ic auto retry to turn on the high-side switch at next switching cycle?

3. If current limit is reached, What is the time period form high-side switch turn off to switch turn on, is the turn off time of high side mos adjustable?

Many thanks

Denny

  • Hello Denny,

Thanks for sharing the customer queries to us.

Anyway, please see my comments on the TLV62569 behavior at over current condition below.

    1. Is the current limit detect every cycle? [Excel] Yes, the current limit circuit monitors the current that flows to the high-side FET cycle by cycle.

    2. If current limit is reached, will the ic auto retry to turn on the high-side switch at next switching cycle? [Excel] The switching cycles will not stop even if the current limit is reached unless the TJSD (thermal shutdown) protection is triggered. The device will need to wait for the junction temperature (Tj) to fall ~130 deg. C before it will start switching again.

    3. If current limit is reached, What is the time period form high-side switch turn off to switch turn on, is the turn off time of high side mos adjustable? [Excel] The off-time (Toff) of the high-side FET may vary depending on the Vin and Vout levels.

I hope the information above helps you better understand the device operation during OCP or short circuit conditions.

    Best regards,
