BQ76930EVM: I have a question about the BQ76930 evaluation software.

Part Number: BQ76930EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76930, BQ76940

Hi

https://www.ti.com/lit/df/tidrnc5/tidrnc5.pdf?ts=1625397717785&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Ftool%252FTIDA-01093

I am trying to monitor and control the charging and discharging of a 20 cell battery using 2 bq76930 ic chips as the schematic shown in the link attached.

1. I know how to read data from BQ76940 evaluation software via i2c communication. What is the corresponding value for charging or discharging current?

2. What do I need to do to enable or disable the charge fet, discharge fet?

  • please let me know...
  • Hi Kim,

There is a 1 mOhm sense resistor across the SRP/SRN pins on the EVM. So the coulomb counter voltage can be divided by the sense resistor value to calculate the current. The BQ76930 datasheet describes the coulomb counter ADC in more detail and gives examples of positive and negative code readings.

The System_Control2 register has bits to enable the FETs - CHG_ON and DSG_ON.

    Best regards,

    Matt
