BQ27621-G1: Compare the solution of BQ27621-G1 and BQ27220

Part Number: BQ27621-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27220

Hello,

From datasheet, it looks both part can be used for Lithum-Ion detection.

But BQ27621-G1 is more simple without external resistor.

I am not sure any disadvantage of BQ27621-G1. Please suggest.

My application:

1) 4 x NCR18650B Lithum Ion Parellel package.

2) Charge current 3.3A

3) Discharge is about 500mA~2A.

4) Use for battery measurement tp estimate the left battery for handle device. Such as 10% battery left,

  • Hi Xiaoqiang Shen,

I apologize for the delay. Both gauges should work for your application based on your description. One of the main differences is that the BQ27220 supports both pack and system side gauging while the BQ27621-G1 only supports system side. If you are using pack side gauging then you should go with the BQ27220. Another difference is that the BQ27220 uses the CEDV. The BQ27621 requires less configuration and is cheaper but it is less accurate because there is no current measurement.

    Best,

    Jessica
