LMG3425R030: Questions about the ideal diode mode of LMG3425R030

Part Number: LMG3425R030

Hello,

I am using LMG3425R030 as rectifier and I have the following questions about the ideal diode mode.

1. For the ideal diode mode, my understanding is that the GaN device can automatically turn on when the 3rd quadrant current is detected but it can't automatically turn off for SR conduction. Turn-off can only be competed by PWM input signal. Is this correct?

2. When I run LMG3425R030 as SR device without any PWM input signal, the ideal diode mode can never be turned on. Does it means the ideal diode mode can only be activated with PWM applied to the device?

Thank you!

  • Hi Hao,

The device is not designed for automatic turn-off in SR application. The turn-off relies on the PWM signal. Details can be found in the Sync FET Mode State Machine in datasheet.

Please refer to the Sync FET Mode State Machine in datasheet. For proper turn-on in ideal diode mode, the PWM signals need to be provided.

    Best regards,

    John
