Do you have suggestions about replacing PS65218D with other PMIC?

Out CPU is AM737X?

    Unfortunately many of our PMICs have very long lead times due to the current state of the world (35+ weeks). I was unable to find any information on the AM737x? Would you be able to provide an alternative part # or link?     There are multiple variants of the TPS65218xx family, one of which I understand our TPS6521845 variant has about 7ku in stock currently. There may also be additional stock of the TS6521835 and TPS6521855 devices. If this would meet your current volume requirements, it could be an option to obtain the available TPS652183/4/55 device and re-program it to the AM437x processor needs. Any of the TPS65218xx devices have a EEPROM that can be re-programmed up to 1000x. If this is a suitable solution, you can re-program individual ICs for design testing using our TPS65218xx Boosterpack: https://www.ti.com/tool/BOOSTXL-TPS65218, or use our 3rd party programming vendor, ARROW, to re-program production volumes of these devices. Depending on what design phase you are currently in, this could be enough to suffice until the production phase, which sits at about a 35 week lead time currently..

    I  check the link you provide me, It seems we need to be re-programmed even TPS65218D0 before we use it. Is it right?

    It is a little difficult to re-programmed TPS65218xx without a tool or from 3rd party.

    We found another solution is discrete power solution in AM437x IDK EVM

    Could we replace PMIC with a discrete power solution?

    Discrete power solution is hereAM437x/AMIC120 Industrial Development Kit (IDK) Schematic (Rev. A)

    I think the AM437x series should have the same power timing. We can copy designs from different EVMsboard.

    Our  Ethernet/IP project is a design based on TMDSEVM437X, CPU is AM4378,

    Main Function is HDMI+PRU Ethernet+RGMII Giga Ethernet+eMMC.

    we plan to replace PMIC with a discrete power solution if it can work.

    So we need your help. 

    One more question is :100

    We found DSS pin connects to 1.8V of PMIC in TMDSEVM437X.

    But DSS pin connects to the internal 1.8V LDO(VDDA1P8_PMLDO) of CPU in AM437x IDK EVM.

    Could we connect the DSS pin to an external 1.8V (1.8V same as VDDS_PLL/VDDS_SRAM..),

    Or we must use the internal 1.8V LDO in discrete power design?

    I mean DSS should be VDDS.

    It is VDDS Power Pin(F20, G6, H12.....)

    Did you mean it was difficult to re-program TPS65218xx even with the Boosterpack and from 3rd party ARROW? 

    It's always possible to replace PMIC with discrete and vice-versa, you just have considerations such as board space, voltage monitoring, etc. Unfortunately, I can only advise on our PMICs, not a full discrete power solution. However, I do not see a problem with you implementing the same discrete power as the AM437x IDK EVM. For the TMDSEVM437x, you would just want to ensure the proper voltage and sequencing requirements are met. It should not matter whether it comes from a PMIC rail or discrete rail (one is just integrated with other regulators and the other is standalone).

    Also, the lead time is too long we try to use discrete power and it is more flexible.

     I think it is easier to implement the discrete power for us at this time.

    So you mean external 1.8V power supply for VDDS  should be fine (Same Power as VDDS_PLL/VDDS_SRAM//VDDS_SRAM..)

    If VDDA1P8_PMLDO output directly when power on, or does it has some SW Setting when bootup?

    I also ask a new question this Tread, But no answer now, Could you help to check the thread?

    The question is:

    For discrete power design, we found TPS386000&TPS62362 all are out of stock.

    AND

    TPS386000 is P2P with TPS386040

    TPS62362 is P2P with TPS62360 

    Could we replace TPS386000&TPS62362 with TPS386040&TPS62360 without any SW and HW change?

    Do you have some design files to share with us if we need some SW modification?

    It does not matter if you use a discrete regulator or PMIC regulator to power 1V8 as long as the sequencing settings are the same. Unfortunately, I am not on the AM437x processor team and cannot speak to those sequencing settings, but it appears that the VDDS_PLL/VDDS_SRAM/.. rails can be sequenced according to the diagram below, available in the AM437x datasheet

    In regard to your other post, that will be assigned to a different team and you will receive a response there as soon as it reaches the appropriate people. I can only speak to the PMICs in our portfolio and not TI discrete buck or LDO regulators nor their modules.
