I wanted to ask if it is safe to operate two TPS60240 devices in parallel similar to the application shown for the REG710-33 in the datasheet (reg710-33.pdf) on page 15?

Thank you for considering the TPS60240. Since the IC has built in output current, it can be paralleled to support higher load current.
