LM25018: SW to RTN absolute max

Hello,

My customer has a question for LM25018 absolute max, SW to RTN(100ns transient).

The datasheet defines its MAX value as “VIN+0.3”.

But I believe that it is almost impossible to keep this spec at the switching timing.

SLVA494A application note says over “VIN+0.3V” in a short time is acceptable.

Can this application note be applied for LM25018?

Hi Oba:

VIN+0.3V is for SW dc voltage which takes SW as input source , in practical application, it only overshoot in short time like SLVA494A mentioned.

Up to what voltage can be acceptable during this short time overshoot?

not exceed Vin max voltage, for LM25018, it is 42V. one more thing is make sure the layout is follow our datasheet guide to redcue the parastic inductance.

I checked LM25018 datasheet and Vin MAX is 53V(abs max). Is 42V typo?
