BQ20Z80: Can a programmed gas gauge (gg) file be deleted (erased) from the BQ20Z80 ?

Part Number: BQ20Z80

Hi,

Good day.

Our customer has this question regarding BQ20Z80:

"I am aware of two methods to reset the BQ20Z80 gas gauge IC: via the hexadecimal code which can be entered in the manufacturing access window using the TI evaluation software and by shorting the MRST pin of the gas gauge to 3.3VDC. Can a programmed gas gauge (gg) file be deleted from the BQ20Z80 gas gauge IC?   Thank you."

Can you please help us with this? Thank you.

Regards,

Cedrick

  • Cedrick,

Resetting the gauge does not cause it to lose the gg information. The gg, when written to the gauge, is committed to the flash of the device which stays unless specifically told to be erased. There are commands used to erase the flash, but these are only part of the reprogramming phase and not available in normal operation.

    Thanks,
