[FAQ] Why can the USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01 not be configured for a 1s battery?

Part Number: USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01
  • The TPS25750D requires 5V on PP5V in order to source 5V and for VCONN support. In the design of the board, we decided to supply the PP5V rail from a 5V buck converter. If a battery voltage less than or close to 5V were applied, the buck converter would not guarantee 5V and not be able to source 5V for OTG.
  • The USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01 can be operated in a 1s battery configuration in Sink Only Mode Only. If the sourcing capability is not needed, then a 1s battery is possible. Follow the below instructions:
    1. Power on the USB-PD-CHG-EVM-01
    2. Change the CELL bits to 1s
    3. The ICHG, VSYSMIN, and VREG will change to reflect the values in Table 9-2
    4. Update the ICHG, VSYSMIN, and VREG values to the desired parameters
    5. The values in Table 9-2 will be updated if the device encounters REG_RST or the watchdog timer expires
