LMR36015-Q1: noise - is it possible to add resistance in series with cap between pin12 and pin4?

Part Number: LMR36015-Q1

Hi,

Is it acceptable to place a resistor in series with the capacitor between the Switch node pin 12 and  Bootstrap pin 4?  If so, up to what value 5 or 10 ohms?

There is a little noise from these supplies being picked up on an adjacent signal.  The program is due to go SOP in 2022, having had schematic and layout reviews previously checked by TI, so changes to the layout are not desired. The engineer needs to list all the potential options.

BR,

Ross

  • Hello

To help mitigate certain EMI issues the following may be helpful:

    1. A small resistor in series with the BOOT cap may help.  The maximum value should be 10Ω.

    2. A snubber from the SW node to GND may also help.  These components should be placed as close

    as possible to the device.

    3. An EMI filter is usually required to pass EMI testing.

I have attached a few application notes that may prove helpful.

    Thanks
