TPS56C215: TPS56C215 replace the TPS568215

Part Number: TPS56C215
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS568215

Hi Expert,

Due to supply shortage issue, we are proposing the TPS56C215 replace the TPS568215  now.

Pls advice the derivations between them.

And the customer point out why the Output voltage ripple is under 10mv of TPS568215 design from datasheet (Figure 8-1), but 20mv of TPS56C215 design from datasheet (Figure 23).

Seems the external components are same, do this mean the TPS568215 will has has better ripple noise performance than TPS56C215 .

Thanks

  • Hi Eric,

Normally, for two buck converter with same inductance, capacitance and switching frequency, their voltage ripple should be same ideally in CCM mode. If you look at figure 8-13 of TPS56C215 and figure 35 of TPS568215, their output voltage ripple value are similar. The ripple of TPS56C215 is not high as 20mV pk-pk.

Section 8.2.1 just shows the design requirement for the application. For real performance, we need to check the test results.

    Thanks,

    Andrew
