BQ40Z50-R2: BQ40Z50-R2 authentication steps

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi Ti expeter

customers are able to authenticate by using the TI bqstudio.  But meet a problem using the host-C6748 to authenticate.  They wrote 20bytes data to 0x2F , wait for a period time,  read the data , it’s just can get 6 or 11 bytes data and these data is right. Customer suspects if they missed some steps before authentication.    Are there some steps else or data that MCU need write some data to gauge before authentication.

Can you show the right authentication process by host ?  Thanks!

  • Harry,

If your customer has followed the steps outlined in section 11.4 of the TRM there shouldn't be any additional steps. They may want to make sure that the host is properly using the SMBus protocol and confirm that they can communicate through the host by reading/writing other registers. A logic analyzer output would be helpful to ensure that the communication is happening as expected.
