TPS2065: Bidirectional?

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer would like to know if TPS2065 is really a bidirectional switch?

In the datasheet it says it is bidirectional but looking at the block diagrams it looks single directional, because in the block diagram it uses MOSFET and so it can conduct or allow current to flow in only one direction.

If it is not bidirectional then any IC you can recommend which is capable of bidirectional for USB like applications?

Hi Art,

The internal MOS is back to back structure. As VIN off, the current can't flow back.

What do you mean bidirectional? You want to flow the current from output to input?

Hi Ziv,

Yes you re right. What customer means by bidirectional is current flowing from IN to OUT and OUT to IN as well.

Is this what the "bidirectional switching" statement on the datasheet means?
