UCC5350: Vcc1 and Vcc2 capacitance check

Hi team,

My customer wants to drop-in replace IFX's isolated gate driver with UCC5350. 

There is a problem that for recent design, the VCC1 capacitor is 1uF, while VCC2 capacitors are 1uF+1uF+0.1uF. But in our datasheet, we recommend 10uF+0.22uF for Vcc2.

We want to know that whether there is any risk to maintain the present design, as for their board, the bias power supply output is located near the Vcc2 pin. Or is there any other test results you can provide with lower capacitance than recommended? Thanks.

    This should be ok. After your customer mounts the UCC5350, ask them to measure the VCC2 supply to make sure it doesn’t have any significant dips on the rail during switching events.

    The datasheet recommends 10 uF as an example. We don’t know about the customer’s power supply feeding the IC, so we recommend 10 uF to provide significant decoupling for the IC. It is a system requirement, not an IC requirement.
