TPS2373: How to achieve Power failure status function of TPS2373

Part Number: TPS2373

Hi team,

May  I knoe hoe to achieve Power failure status function of TPS2373 ?

Thanks and best regards,

Jamie

  • Hello Jamie,

The TPS2373 has the PG pin that indicates if there is "power good." this means that power is ready to be sent downstream to the DCDC converter. This pin should indicate if power is present, so can this pin work for the customer application?

  • Hi Michael,

if the customer want to set following LED status, how do set it? or is there relevant reference design available?

LED Green --- Receiving DC power form bt PSE

    LED Amber—Power failure has occurred

LED Off – no bt PSE

the open-drain function of TPH/TPL/BT pin only for the Allocated Power status Table?

  • Hey Tommy,

What does power failure mean? Does it mean an output short, failed power negotiation, the IC damaged, MPS is not met, a short on VDD_RTN., the PSE shut off power?

Additionally, if power "fails" in PoE, most of these situations the PSE is going to shut off power and  there will not be power for the amber LED.

TPH/TPL/BT show what power level the PSE sends to the PD, they cannot show power failure.
