BQ79606EVM-897: BQ79606

Part Number: BQ79606EVM-897
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hello TI team !!!

Something seems off on the cell voltage monitoring, when testing the balancing on the EVM, I’ll try to explain my setup and procedure as clear as possible so you can give me some insight.

SET UP

I have connected a battery stack with 6 cells on J1 pins 2 to 8 and left Pin 1 & 9 Unconnected

I have jumper J2 and J3 ON to power the board from the battery

I have the SW2 on the OFF position and the on-board resistor ladder is Unconnected

BQstudio SET UP

I have the following configuration for Cell Voltage monitoring and Balancing

When I enable Balancing without the comparator the CB_RUN is completed

Then I check the Cell voltages during the balancing procedure.

The cell that is “bleeding” current has a voltage drop when measuring, around 0,665 Volts

And the cells that are next to the “bleeding” cells have a voltage rise.

ODDS balancing

EVENS balancing

Also because of the Voltage measurements are like this if I activate the Comparator, it immediately “completes” the balancing,

I guess because CB_DONE_THRESH is triggered and CB_DONE is then set.
