[FAQ] BQ25302: How is the charge enable and charge disable controlled for BQ25300, BQ25302, BQ25306, BQ25303J?

Part Number: BQ25302
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25303J, , BQ25306, BQ25300

The battery chargers BQ25300, BQ25302, BQ25306, BQ25303J control the charging enable and disable by the /EN and POL pins.

  • To enable charging, /EN and POL need to have opposite polarity. Conversely when /EN and POL have the same logic level, the charge is disabled.
  • By default, the /EN pin is internally pulled low and POL pin is internally pulled high. This allows for charge enabled when /EN and POL pins are floating, reducing the solution size.
  • When charge is disabled, REGN is turned off. As REGN is the pullup rail for the STAT pin, STAT will not indicate charge in progress and converter will be disabled.
