UCD9090: Further questions on the difference of UCD9090 and UCD9090A

Part Number: UCD9090

Hi Team,

I understand the improvement between UCD9090 and UCD9090A from SLVA908. Per the apps note, changing programming file is required to upgrade from non-A to A version. I wonder :

- Customer should downgrade from A version to non-A version. If customer is not using the improved features of A version, can they also easily re-generate the programming file for non-A version in Fusion GUI?

- A version and non-A version are p2p compatible. I wonder what exactly makes the different programming file be required. Is there difference in register address between two devices?

  • HI

I do not get your question. If customer is using UCD9090, he shall use UCD9090 data flash file. If UCD9090A is used, he shall use UCD9090A flash file.

it is not about feature. the programing file is determined by the device.

Yes, there are differences on the command sets so the programing file has to be different.

  • Hi Yihe,

Sorry for confusion. For my 1st question, customer has been using UCD9090A but due to the supply issue they need to move to UCD9090. I wonder if they can easily convert their UCD9090A flash file into UCD9090 flash file using Fusion GUI (in the case that they are not using the improved features of A version).

Yes, there are differences on the command sets so the programing file has to be different.

Could you also let me know where I can find the difference of command sets of two devices (I believe 'command set' means the register address and bit information, right?)

  • Hi

flash file has checksum and there is no way to manual adjust to fit another device. They have to regenerate the flash file.

GUI 7.5.1 can support import UCD9090A project file into UCD9090 device. from there, they can generate the new flash file for UCD9090.

    Fusion GUI 7.5.1 [Public]

Here is the differences, but again, hex file is a packed data and you can not tell the differences from pmbus command
