TPS2663: TPS26630-33EVM

Part Number: TPS2663

Hi expert,

I noticed that TPS26633 will automatically go into the voltage clamp situation when OVP is trigged. And the duration for the voltage clamp is 162ms.

My question is if the fault is removed in the duration, could TPS2663 return back to the normal working condition? And what about same question to the OCP duration?

  • Hi Marsh,

Yes, the device returns back to normal working condition if fault is removed with 162ms. But note that if the device power dissipation (Vin-Vc)*Iout causes device to hit thermal shutdown, the device turns OFF and responds based on the MODE pin setting

  • Hi Rakesh,

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding led by my unprecise description.

My question is if the fault is removed before the duration ends, could TPS2663 return back to the normal working condition?

For example: At t0, OV fault occurs, and then TPS2663 goes into OVC stage. After 100ms(still in OVC duration), the fault is removed. Can TPS2663 return back to normal working condition immediately? Or the TPS2663 returns to the normal condition after 162ms?(Assuming thermal protection is not triggered)

    Thanks,

    Marsh

  • Hi Marsh,

Yes, returns back to normal operation if fault is removed before 162ms
