TPS65919-Q1: Can TPS65919-Q1 and TPS65916 use same PCB layout if LDO3/SMPS5 don't use?

Part Number: TPS65919-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65916

Hello Experts,

Can TPS65919-Q1 and TPS65916 use same PCB layout if it does not use LDO3/SMPS5? In other word, TPS65919-Q1 and TPS65916 are drop in replace (software compatible) as long as it does not use LDO3/SMPS5?

Best Regards,
Fujiwara

  • Hi Fujiwara-san,

Most of the pins are the same, as you have noted, the differences are in the pins related to LDO3 and SMPS5. If LDO3 and SMPS5 are unused for the TPS65916, then for both devices, pins 5 and 46 should be connected to a supply voltage and pins 6 and 47 should be floating. However, for the TPS65916, pin 45, SMPS5_FDBK, is recommended to be grounded if unused and for the TPS65919-Q1, pin 45, NC, is recommended to be floating.

Additionally, due to these devices being controlled by an OTP, they will be programmed to different startup sequences and default output voltages which may cause problems in being used in the same application.

Finally, an important note is that TPS65919-Q1 is qualified for automotive applications but the TPS65916 is not.

    Thanks,

    Daniel W
