BQ24278: CD?

The pin CD has very little description....Suggests that it is the IC Hardware Disable pin and places it into High Z mode....What does this exactly mean? Does the chip go into low power mode drawing very little current? Also does this keep the battery from powering the system (ie is the internal mosfet turned off)?

Hi Steve,

Yes. CD is chip disable and places the charger into HiZ, very similar to if only a battery is at BAT and no input power applied.

Hello Jeff...

Just for clarity.....What is the function of CD if it acts the same as when no input power is applied? Why have it at all...ie just don't apply input power. I need more specifics.

1. When CD is active will the internal battery mosfet be closed or open?

Hi Steve,

Just like in HiZ mode, internal BATFET is closed so that BAT can power SYS.
