Hi, I am looking for a buck IC that can drive a 3V LED at 5A or preferably 6A for 3 seconds, then ramp down to lower currents after that. Power would be an 18650 Lithium battery (4-3.3v). I tried the selection guides for LED drivers, but the highest current I found was 2.5A. Maybe I should be looking at power supply switchers instead of LED drivers? Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi Lloyd,

Yes, most LED drivers are boost based and you need a buck. Would this type of solution work for you, if it supported 6A and a lower Vin? https://www.ti.com/tool/PMP9762

If so, then you need a lower Vin device with an SS/TR pin. 2 good ones are TPSM82480 and TPS62816-Q1.
