TPS63020: PS/SYNC in TPS63020

Part Number: TPS63020

Hi

Here is a schematic, that i designed.

I turned on this schematic variant and it works without current flowing from VOUT to VIN and it works well. After that I wanted to turn off "Power save mode" by setting PS/SYNC to VBAT. I changed Lion battery to adjustable power supply, turned on, set EN to High and then voltage on VBAT increased up to 6.8V and i don`t understand why.
So, the questions are:
1) can i connect and use schematic as i mentioned above or this connection has unexpected reactions?
2) what is the reason of voltage increasing in VBAT by setting PS/SYNC pin to HIGH?

P.S. output current is 2.2A in peak

  • Hi  Yurri,

    Nice day.

    1) if you want disable power save mode, please make sure EN will be pulled down when PSU is used . or else, battery will be charged by negative current of inductor. as you tested.

    2) when power save mode disabled and output voltage is larger than set one, inductor will be negative and this current will charge battery.

    Regards
